Below you will find the
services available and the facilities that there are on offer within the buildings
currently in use by the Old Parish Church. You may find larger versions of the
images on this page by clicking on them.
Morning service begins at 11am
every Sunday. Each month we have a family service. During our time of vacancy, the Elders of the church
are charged with carrying out the evening service which begins at 6pm. The main church
building is also used for choir practice on Thursday and throughout the week for funeral
services and weddings.
The building has a seating capacity of 767 with three ground floor seating
areas and two upper balconies. The layout of the church is such that there are two aisles
allowing access from the vestibule at the rear, both leading down to the main pulpit area,
with its original functioning pipe organ situated in the choir area at the back of the
centre pews. The organ was installed by Forster and Andrews of Hull in 1892.
The church has recently invested in a new sound system which may cater for up to 4
wireless handheld microphones in addition to standard tie-clip and lectern coverage. Each
morning service is recorded and available from the resource library on audio cassette
tape. At morning services there is a crèche facility available for babies and toddlers.
We have recently begun a car share facility whereby members of the congregation volunteer
transportation to others who would otherwise not have such transport available to them.
The Kirk Centre, Barrasgate Road

The Kirk centre was opened in 1992 and is generally in use every day of the week,
catering to the church's various organisations, as well as some external community
services such as Weight-Watchers, Yoga and "The Talking Herald". It may be
thought of as two buildings, as the new building also opens into the 'Penny Schoolie'
giving it a greater capacity.

The Kirk Centre houses a coffee lounge, two kitchens, a large
function/games hall, a large conference room upstairs, the Minister's and Secretary's
office, and the resources library. The hall facilities include removable seating, a small
complement of rostrum platforms, a vocal PA, an upright piano, air heating and
circulation aids. The church makes an effort to keep all facilities well maintained at all times. The Penny Schoolie houses a
further hall with upright piano, gas heating, small staging and a podium, a medium sized
function room at the rear and two smaller function rooms located upstairs.
Removable/stackable seating and tables are available throughout the entire building.
The Playgroup is an accredited provider of pre-school education in
partnership with Aberdeenshire Council. It runs throughout the week and is open to
children of ages 3 and 4. All staff who work at the playgroup are fully trained
professionals and first-aiders and are always happy to welcome all children. The Playgroup is open during the school terms Monday to
Friday at 9.15am and pick-up time is between 11.35am and 11.45am.
The Coffee Lounge is open throughout the week, Monday to
Saturday from 10am to 4pm, but closed on Wednesdays. Fresh food and home bakes are served
daily.
The Resource Library is open from 2pm to 5pm Wednesday to
Friday for members of the church to borrow Christian literature.
Funeral Teas are offered by volunteers for bereaved
families who may, or may not, be using the church for a funeral.
Nu To U Shop, High Street
The Nu To U Shop is open Monday to Saturday (closed Wednesdays) from 10am to 1pm and 2pm
